Last updated: 7 October 2026. This policy explains what Cliptect collects, why it is needed, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to Clippers, Creators and visitors alike.
1. Who we are
Cliptect is the operator of this platform and is responsible for the personal data described here. If you join as a Clipper or fund a campaign as a Creator, Cliptect is the data controller for your account.
2. Data we collect
Account data: your name or display name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), portal role (Clipper or Creator) and email-confirmation status.
Channel data you submit: the social handles you register for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and X Video, plus the public profile and performance averages each connected platform returns — for example follower counts, average views, average comments and video or reel listings.
Campaign data: tournament briefs, target regions, prize and escrow amounts, clip links you submit, and the view and comment counts recorded for those links.
Money data: escrow balances, payout and refund records, and the payment details your payment provider needs to move funds. Card and bank credentials are held by the payment provider, not by Cliptect.
Trust and safety data: anti-cheat results, fraud audit notes, device and session signals, and any report or dispute you raise.
Translation data: when you type channel notes in another language, the text is translated on your own device and a copy of the result is stored in a shared cache so the same note never has to be translated twice.
Technical data: log entries, error reports and basic usage signals used to keep the service running and to investigate faults.
3. Connected social channels
When you connect a channel you authorise Cliptect to read the specific data that platform's permission request lists — for TikTok that is your basic profile information and your video list; other platforms are limited to the profile and performance fields we ask for.
The credential that gives Cliptect that access is stored on our servers as encrypted text, tied to your account. It is never shown in the app, in a URL, or in a log.
You can disconnect a channel at any time. That revokes the connection and Cliptect stops reading that channel; metrics already recorded for completed campaigns stay on record so results and payouts can still be audited.
We do not ask for, and cannot read, your social-platform password.
4. Why we use it
To create and secure your account, and to confirm your email address.
To calculate your rank (Academy Cadet, Bronze, Silver or Gold) and decide which tournaments you may enter.
To run campaigns: check team targets, unlock a Creator's vault to qualifying Clippers, score clips and publish leaderboard results.
To pay people: calculate prize and ad-revenue shares, and to record refunds when a campaign never ignites.
To protect the platform: detect bots, duplicate accounts, view manipulation and unlicensed use of footage.
To support you: answer requests, resolve disputes and keep records needed for accounting and legal obligations.
5. Who we share it with
Our hosting, database and storage providers, which process data on our instructions.
Our payment provider, which receives the account and payout details needed to move money and to meet its own identity and anti-fraud checks.
The social platforms you connect, when we request the data you authorised.
Other Cliptect users, but only in limited, deliberate ways: your display name, rank, connected handle and clip performance appear on leaderboards and campaign views, and your channel averages contribute to team totals. We do not publish your email address, your private notes or your payment details.
Public authorities or rights holders, where we are legally required or it is needed to investigate abuse.
We never sell personal data and never use it for third-party advertising.
6. Where data lives and how long
Data is stored on our hosting infrastructure and protected with encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level restrictions so each account can only read its own records. Connection credentials are additionally encrypted before they are written to the database.
Account, campaign and channel data is kept while your account is open. Fraud and audit records, and the financial records needed for accounting and tax, are kept longer where the law requires it.
Translation cache entries are stored without your name attached to them.
7. Your choices and rights
Access and correct: see and fix the profile, handle and channel data on your account.
Disconnect a platform: remove a channel connection so Cliptect can no longer read it.
Delete: ask us to close and delete your account. We will remove what we can and tell you what must be retained, and why.
Object or restrict: ask us to stop a particular processing activity, such as showing your clip on a public leaderboard.
Complaints: raise a concern with us first; you can also contact your local data-protection authority.
We respond to requests within 30 days and may need to verify your identity before doing so.
8. Children
Cliptect is not for people under 16 (or the age of majority where you live, if higher). If we learn a child's account was created, we close it and delete the data.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters to you, we'll say so in the app or by email before the change takes effect, and the 'last updated' date above will move.
10. Contact
To exercise a right, ask a question, or report how your data is handled, reply to any email from Cliptect or write to us from the email address on your account.
